FOR THE NEWCOMER

Living with the effects of someone else’s drinking is too devastating for most people to bear without help.

In Al-Anon we learn individuals are not responsible for another person’s disease or recovery from it.

We let go of our obsession with another’s behaviour and begin to lead happier and more manageable lives, lives with dignity and rights; lives guided by a Power greater than ourselves.

Al-Anon Family Groups is an important source of help for anyone affected by someone else’s drinking. Al-Anon groups are made up of family members and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other.

Unsure whether Al-Anon is for you?

To help you decide if Al-Anon could help you, we offer a simple self-assessment quiz to determine if Al-Anon may help.

Our personal situations may be different, but we share as equals.

If you are a newcomer or if you regularly attend Al-Anon meetings, we have information to help and support you.

Working Together

Although a separate entity, we cooperate with AA, and consider it an important resource for understanding alcoholism. In the spirit of cooperation rather than affiliation, here is the website address of Alcoholic Anonymous World Service www.aa.org.
